After it was discovered that Sinclair Broadcasting Group (SBGI) was planning to broadcast an anti-Kerry documentary days before the election, outraged individuals turned into activists by organizing action against the company. According to the Los Angeles Times, SBGI is planning to run the documentary, Stolen Honor, without interruption as a "news special" allegedly in order to skirt equal times laws.
The documentary was produced by Carlton Sherwood who claims that the film was funded by "individuals and entities nationwide." The anti-Kerry group, Swift Vets and POWs for Truth (formerly Swift Boat Veterans for Truth) is cross promoting the film as part of $1.4 million advertising campaign.
Several prominent websites including DailyKos.com and DemocraticUnderground.com have compiled lists of advertisers and an array of contact information. Additionally a boycott site, Boycottsbg.com was quickly constructed in order to keep track and organize the campaign against SBGI.
The efforts thus far have been effective. Several companies have expressed their intent to end advertising campaigns with SBGI affiliates who air the program. One television station, WTXL in Tallahassee Florida, in order to stay clear of any backlash made it clear that they were not owned by SBGI and will not air the attack film.
The outraged Americans show no sign of letting up on Sinclair Broadcasting and as a result the company may face severe financial difficulty well into the future.
Comments: (No profanity, or inappropriate remarks.)
This is yet another reason why Bush has turned me away from my party. Like when he ran for governor and used underhanded, back door tactics so he could smell like a rose all the while slinging mud but not getting his own hands dirty. Like the man that tries to cover his bald spot with that long piece of hair, he is only fooling himself.
Not since I voted for Jimmy Carter have I been so determined to vote for a democrat. John Kerry has my vote! Bush is full of bush it!
The real sting of this stunt is that Senator Kerry has no real means to fight it. Even if the FCC doesn't buy Sinclair's argument that it is a "news item" and requires them to provide "equal time," Senator Kerry doesn't get the time. As I understand it, the way the equal time rules work, President Bush would get the time! Because the FCC runs about two campaigns behind the times in writing and revising rules, the rules are written assuming that if a candidate is on the air (pictures, etc) it is ALWAYS good for the candidate. Since John Kerry will be seen and heard frequently in the "documentary," it is George W. Bush who would be entitled to demand equal time!
This is the problem with de-regulating television and radio ownership. Sinclair has 63 stations. In some markets, they own 2 stations.
Only Americans who love their country can stop this kind of political manipulation by large corporations. This one in particular is practically owned by a single family! A small group of people with large corporate backers should never have this kind of power in a national election. This is the way we can take our country back.
One more reason for Americans to understand what we lost under the leadership of Ronald Reagan:
The Fairness Doctrine that required all broadcasters to promote more than one opinion of all issues.
These corporations are using our airwaves to poison our minds with propaganda and untruths.
Fight this tide of corporate fascism by demanding that your representatives bring the Fairness Doctrine back to the FCC.
Our FCC is now headed by Michael Powell, son of Colin Powell (nepotism anyone?) and Michael Powell has stated that he does not have a "sense of public duty". Is this what our country deserves in its "public servants"?
I think not.
This is one of the most striking outrages against our democracy in a four years of continuous outrages. The media is destroying our country just as surely as the Bushites themselves are.
I find these tactics so revolting that it turns
me off from the words such as DEMOCRACY, free speech , The mudslinging against a decent man such as Kerry,by agang of Carl Rove thugs is
not what the Founding Fathers intended.
We need a thorough house cleaniing.

There is much more to this story. Carlton Sherwood, the filmmaker, worked for Tom Ridge and has business interests in WVC3, a company that intends to profit from the war on terror.
Google - WVC3 "Carlton Sherwood" - for more.
The "film" was completely discredited by Chris Matthews on his cable news show "Hardball" on September 9th, 2004 when both historical fact and eyewitnesses proved the "stars" of the film (both Bush appointees) to be liars. Here are links to some of the facts:
#1: FACT: Fake "Charges" Dismissed by the United States Navy (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid;=514&e;=3&u;=/ap/20040918/ap_on_el_pr/kerry_navy_awards)
#2: FACT: POWs OUTED AS LIARS on MSNBC Hardball on Sept 9, 2004: (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5962170/)
#3: FACT: "Suffering" POWs Directly Linked to Bush/Cheney (AP 9/3/4) AP: Another Two Bush Officials Linked to Swift Boat Vets Ads. "Two former Vietnam prisoners of war who appear in ads attacking Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry were appointed by the Bush administration to a panel advising the Department of Veterans Affairs. The former POWs in the ad, Kenneth Cordier and Paul Galanti, serve on the VA's 12-member Former POW Advisory Committee. VA Secretary Anthony Principi appointed Cordier in 2002 and Galanti in 2003. Cordier also was a member of a Bush campaign veterans' committee but quit earlier this month after that role was revealed." (AP, 9/3/04)
The information on the ties to the "Swift Vet" folks and the Bush/Cheney campaign are well established, but I can put them up if anyone is interested.
I find it amazing that the people opposed to the showing of Stolen Honor said nothing when Michael Moore's gross distortion - Farhenheit 9/11 - was shown. And where was the outrage when CBS used forged documents against President Bush on 60 Minutes? I'm a retired GI (1968-1989) who got spit on during the Vietnam war thanks to people like Senator Kerry. I want the people in this country to see Stolen Honor and decide for themselves. Let's keep if "fair and balanced". Senator Kerry has been offered time for a rebuttal. And one more thing: Why hasn't Senator Kerry signed an SF Form 180 to release all of his military records? What's he hiding? I can tell you, they aren't ALL on his web site.
Well it appears it's ok for you to smear the President of the United States, and believe con man kerry. You are fools of the highest order.
I guess "Stolen Valor" is every bit as newsworthy as "60 Minutes II" using forged documents and a political hack. I guess the liberals believe in "free speech" only if they agree with the message.
Larry, Fahrenheit 9/11 was never shown on network television! On 60 minutes, everyone thought that was ridiculous but only the Bush supporters whined and cried about it. Everyone else expressed disappointed as they should. Would you think it would be "fair and balanced" to show F911 and then give Bush equal time? Don't think so, you would be lighting your torch and heading to the media bonfire.
Grow and and show some dignity.
Media manipulation by large corporations? Airing a "documentary" is media manipulation? When the Democrat party or their supportors do it, it's free speech. The hipocracy of the left never ceases to amaze me. Hey Dem's, you guys started it so shut the heck up or clean up your own house.
You critics are incredible. The media wing of the Democrat party (CBS, ABC, NBC, PBS, etc...) bashes Bush 24/7 and not one peep from you claiming a violation of the Fairness Doctrine, but when a station wants to air a NEWS DOCUMENTARY (that just happens to put Kerry in a bad light) you go nuts!
Why hasn't Kerry released ALL is military records? SIGN FORM 180 SEN. KERRY! President Bush has. What are you hiding? Isn't it curious why the press isn't demanding Kerry release his records. Reverse the situation. Do you think they would give Bush the same pass?
HYPOCRITES!
This is hilarious watching right wingers cry about apples vs. oranges.
F9/11 shown in a theatre and only available for purchase
Stolen Honor being shown over public airwaves as a "news program" which it is most certainly not in order to avoid election laws.
Sinclair Broadcasting: hates our troops (refused to show tribute in may), hates the laws (breaking them right as we speak), hates their shareholders (this move will most certainly destroy what little value those shares still retain), hates jewish people ("democrats are holocaust revisionists"), and is a profiteer off the war (via military contracts thru a subsidiiary via the bush admin).
This is not a right wing or left wing thing. I know many participating in this movement on both sides of the political spectrum
This is about honor, integrity, freedom, democracy, and ethics.... something that SBGI has not one iota of.
:-)

You should check your facts out using a better source than Hardball. Only someone unwilling to expend the effort and seek the truth would use Hardball as their only source!
Remember Rathergate!
Don't use old CBS tactics to accuse the other side! (the other side is already laughing)
I couldn't agree more with Mr. Nichols, above.
The democratic supporters think it's fine to have Farenheit 9/11 out, promoted as truth and news.
They have a problem with the swiftvets promoting real TRUTH, and call it lies, and try to cover it up by lawsuits, intimidation and boycotts.
They have NO problem with the "news" "reporting" using FAKE documents to try to discredit a man who served his country honorably (BUSH), and call the folks liars that post the TRUTH about Kerry.
Some of these truths that the mainstream media have refused to recognize:
1. Kerry did NOT voluntarily join the Navy. He joined the NAVAL RESERVES when his request for a deferment (for a year's study in France) was declined.
2. After he was called up from the reserves, Kerry volunteered for swift boat duty - DURING THE TIME THE SWIFT BOATS WERE NOT INVOLVED IN ANY KIND OF COMBAT. Unfortunately for our country, Kerry was assigned to a swift boat after they did become involved in combat, giving him endless "photo ops", putting his own men in danger, to further a political career. His parting comments to one person in his unit "see you at the convention in 30 years." How self serving is that???
3. The "left" keeps harping on the fact that some of the vets involved in speaking out about Mr. Kerry were involved with the Department of Veterans affairs. So what? If they worked for the post office, would they also be subject to this scrutiny? Probably. Especially if they were hired during the time period of the Bush Administration.
However, the "left" says nothing, and the media does nothing, to point out the OBVIOUS connection between Mr. Kerry and MoveOn.org - there are many articles online about Mr. Kerry's appearances at moveon.org events. Can you IMAGINE the appearance of one of Bush's supporters showing up at a swiftvets event???
I am SO sick of the "left" slandering, lying, distorting, and otherwise slewing the truth - or should I say "their version of the truth"?
And - be forewarned, you lovely liars on the left - regardless of who wins the election on Nov. 2nd, Senator Kerry will be brought up on charges of treason. He's going down. And that's not a threat. That's a promise.
I would like to refer everyone to the following link, to a speech given by Bill Moyers on September 11, 2004 entitled "Journalism Under Fire." He expresses so eloquently the dangers of a media conglomerate and the problems that it imposes on our freedoms. And my definition of freedom, and I'm assuming so is Bill Moyer's, is vastly different from the "freedom" espoused by the current administration.
Bush released his records? I guess that lawsuit by the AP to acquire his records was just for show? I guess the records that resulted in the lawsuit were just "supposed" to have been released by the Bush guys forgot about. Sign form 180? Why bother when your opponent has no regard for the form, the law or the truth.
Also for the critics of f911, name a few things in the film that were wrong! Didn't think so.
Okay is it true that Sinclair Broadcasting is also Sinclair Ventures? If so how about the relationaship between Sinclair Ventures and Jobba which is said to be a corp that has a hefty military government contract for Special ops? And is this the same David Deniston Smith CEO of Sinclair Broadcasting who was busted for being with a hooker in a company car in the city of Baltimore at which time he lived on Hillstead drive and was caught in an undercover sting on Read and St.Paul street in Balltimore? Oh yeah GW once again in good company. HA HA HA
Oh the liberal left and their idea of free speech. Oh it's free unless you disagree with them. John Kerry owes an apology to all of the veterans of the Viet Nam war. The POWs and other men who served (more than 4 months) in Viet Nam deserve to be heard. Too bad Kerry runs his mouth everytime he gets the chance about his so called service in Viet Nam. He's brought the scrutiny on himself. He should have just stayed in the senate and did nothing, like he's done for the past 20 years and kept his mouth shut. I have to question his intelligence for even bringing up his questionable service. His ridiculous reasoning that serving 4 months as a JUNIOR officer would somehow give him the experience to become our Commander In Chief, is laughable in itself. I say go Sinclair, air the truth, let the country be the judge. Oh yea, and Kerry... sign the 180...coward!
i voted for bush in 2000. he seemed like the right choice. i was behind his decision to go into iraq, because of the wmd and terrorist issues.
my son went to iraq as a marine risked his life and lost a friend to a mine.
now we find out no wmd's no terrorist connections.
bush say's he would do it the same way again if he had to.
i can not see how the president of the united states now realizing that his rational for going to war was in error, that there was no immediate threat to the united states, no wmd's no terrorist connection,
would do things the exact same way and take us into a war that it has cost us almost 1100 brave souls.
i am no big kerry fan, but there is no way in **** i am going to vote for bush again.
i don't understand what the problem is.
it's a documentary, not a campaign ad.
it should be shown as news, just like a regular 60 minutes episode or the crap they call documentaries on PBS.
they should show commercials and treat it just like another documentary special.
Fahrenheit 9/11 was not broadcast over the public airwaves. It was screened in privately owned theaters where people paid money to see the show.
If all of the Bush lovers cared about democracy as much in the USA as they supposedly do in Iraq, everybody would be outraged over corporations like SBGI who are attempting to influence our electoral process. Imagine the outrage if a rich liberal owned broadcast outlets that reached 25% of homes and aired Fahrenheit 9/11 as "news content" a week before the election.
WOOHOO
Way to go Sinclair Broadcasting!!
its about time for this american traitor to get "HIS"....lying and degrading his fellow veterans .. what the heck this guy will even LIE about the reason he has an INSTANT TAN HAHAHAHHAHA
Sinclair Broadcasting will not lose ONE DOLLAR due to showing this news film... there are MORE of us that appreciate them letting the VietNam Veterans have their say, that of YOU folks, that would DENY SINCLAIR AND the VETS their right to free speech!!
GOD BLESS THEM, AMerica and President GW BUSH!
The President lied! 'Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.' and 'Unleashing chemical weapons against Iranian troops during a decade-long war. Not only against soldiers, but against civilians, firing Scud missles at the citizens of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Iran. And not only against a foreign enemy, but even against his own people, gassing Kurdish civilians in Northern Iraq', the President explained. 'The international community had little doubt then, and I have no doubt today, that left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will use these terrible weapons again.'
So, did the President lie? President Bill Clinton spoke those words in 1998 and was backed up by Democrats led by Sen Kerry and Terry McAuliffe. YET PRESIDENT BUSH IS CALLED A LIAR!!
So for Mr. Gary Carr, I guess you can now vote for Bush, because Clinton apparantley lied about Iraq and WMD first, and Bush was only using the intelligence that Clinton used.
Lets see...faked documents that Dan Rather tried to smear the President with, Michael Moores insulting 'documentary'...
But let a group of Veteran's who served the nation try to present their point of view, and thats when the left cries foul!
I will make it a point to try and support Sinclair sponsors!
I support Sinclair Broadcasting, and the fortitude they are showing by airing this broadcast.
Where is the ACLU when you need them? Their causes obviously only apply to Liberals.
It's obvious that only Bush supporters are considered "patriotic" enough to be considered. All the chickenhawks want others to do their fighting for them. Patton had it right when he said "Your job is to make the other SOB die for his country" - a smart veteran would never have advocated going into Iraq. This war is just like the Vietnam War and its supporters - only big business comes out ahead. Someday they'll all be chattel to the big-business machine. One way to get rich quick: get all those guys who believed in WMD into a poker game and then bluff like Saddam did.
As many have already pointed out, Fahrenheit 9/11 was a film shown in theaters, not shown on the PUBLIC airwaves. Sinclair may own the license to use those airwaves, but the airwaves themselves belong to US. Therefore they are regulated by the FCC and one of the regulations is that you cannot show a program that isn't NEWS (as in HAPPENING RIGHT NOW) that is partisan to one candidate or another with provided equal time to the other party. This applies for 60 days prior to an election. If Sinclair was so gung ho to show this documentary, he should have shown it before September 3rd, get it? CBS just shelved a 60 Minutes segment until after the election because the head of CBS News felt it was too controversial. You can read about it here though:
http://www.salon.com/news/feature/2004/09/29/cbs_wmd/index.html
Instead, David Smith's partisan shenanigans have dropped the price of SBGI stock over 50% since the beginning of the year. They're going to end up with a shareholder lawsuit on theit hands.
BTW, it's my understanding that Carlton Sherwood shopped his "documentary" to all the networks and none of them would touch it with a 10 foot pole
You right-wingers don't even know history.
Who, in this nation, in the last hundred years, has had to suffer for free speech? The liberals. And the conservatives were the ones using force, trickery and brute force to make the liberals suffer.
Who got shot in the streets by crooked cops and hired goons in the early part of the century? Liberals trying to create unions and give you ungrateful wretches the 'weekend.'
Who got blacklisted in the 1950's? Liberals. The right said liberals would use the public airwaves to spread commie propaganda (sorta like Sinclair is doing in reverse) so they had to go.
Who got their heads beaten with police clubs in the '60's? Liberals. Right-wingers used police power to punish civil-rights marchers and antiwar protesters.
Who got lynched? Liberals.
Who got assassinated? Kennedy, King, Kennedy. Liberals trying to get this country into a shining future.
Who got spied on by the FBI? Liberals.
Who had elections stolen from them by Iranian intrigues, voter purges, 'Brooks Brothers Riots' to stop vote counters, and finally a vote by the Supreme Court in 2000, a vote so crooked that Vincent Bugliosi, the prosecutor who sent Charlie Manson to jail for life, calls it one of the most serious crimes in American History, and that the five who chose George W. Bush belong in prison?
Who got robbed?
Liberals.
Look: the greatest Commander In Chief of the Twentieth Century, who saved the world from Adolf Hitler, whose legacy you conservatives have tried to undo, was a liberal in a wheelchair.
You want to undo all the works of Franklin Roosevelt, who gave us Social Security, unemployment insurance, a minimum wage. Do you also want to undo his heroic salvation of Western culture from barbarous fascists?
You do, don't you? Maybe you don't even know you want it. Or maybe you sincerely don't. Maybe you think you are on the side of freedom. But you can't undo social justice without undoing civil society. Force us to live by the law of the jungle, soon you will find we are in a jungle.
Read your history, read it, read some more. As I once read in a great Robert Anton Wilson book: did you think the truth was a dog, that it would come running when you whistled?
Evolver::
Who put Japanese into internment camps, deported Italians and Germans? FDR.
Why do you call people like the Rosenbergs 'liberals'? you don't like the word Socialist (for Socialist Security) or Communist for agitprop?
Minimum wage put poor out of work during the depression, most severely in the South; has helped slow them down ever since, learn some economics.
And read some more history yourownself.
Try 'As We Go Marching' by John T. Flynn.
BTW: I'm not Left or Right politically. I'm an American.
If Sinclair would also run Kerry's testimony in front of the Congress back to back with "Stolen Valour", I would gladly welcome it. I actually saw and listened to the testimony on CSpan lately. I kept waiting for Kerry to say things that the Swift Boat guys kept saying he said, I didn't hear it. He was there as a messenger for Vets who had stories to tell, and he relayed these stories. He in no way said that ALL soldiers were abusing Vietnamese. What happened to soldiers coming home from the Vietnam war, shouldn't have happened, but it did. Why? Because some people confused the war with the soldier. They spewed hatred on the soldier because they couldn't be heard by the government. If you listen to the actual testimony, you will hear John Kerry ask that the government stop the war, and to put the welfare of the soldier in the fore front. Here is the transcript, for those of you who want to read it. http://www.c-span.org/vote2004/jkerrytestimony.asp
As to John Kerry's military records, they have been posted on his web site since April. http://www.johnkerry.com/about/john_kerry/military_records.html
Why is "Stolen Valour" different from the 60 minutes broadcast? "Stolen Valour" is opinions, without any attempt to check to see if what they are saying is true. Did 60 minutes do a thorough check of the Bush documents, no. But, everyone who was connected to Bush during that time says that even though the documents may be fake, the information in them was true. Did it change my impression of Bush, no it did not.
There is a lot on information out there on both candidates. It is best for our country, when the information is accurate, so that our country can stop being so divided.
Internment? Yes, he did that. Shouldn't have. I can't help that.
Socialism? Labels, man, labels. In Europe socialism is a perfectly respectable word, here it's not. If I told you at length what I really think, I would be harder to pin down than you think. A childhood friend asked me how I got so far left, having once been the 'most conservative guy he knew.'(I'm from North Carolina, not a liberal hotbed.) I told him, I learned a lot. And one major thing I learned is that a lot of what I grew up believing was lies. Conservative views would make sense if they were not so often lies meant to disguise a hidden agenda of greed.
Which is why, when I hear a line like the one about minimum wage being bad for working people, I just snort. Long experience with tools like Reagan and a Bush or two has shown me that it's safer to assume always and automatically that they ccan't be trusted, knowing that the evidence will appear soon. One does not give conservatives the benefit of the doubt because they play a game of 'trust me long enough to set up my next trick.' Then, when you try to talk about the last trick they played, they say "Forget that! Ancient history!"
Evolver::
You can believe anything you want and it will change as you grow up; facts don't change.
Minimum wage is a mistaken idea. Look into it.
You might not have been stuck with that one if you took Economics 101.
Europe has been screwed up for well over a hundred years, just like it is now. You seem at a loss to see that.
Labels? seems that that was what you were throwing around, just labels.
Build from facts not assumptions.
I didn't cut-and-paste this from M.A.N. -- get a clue.
It's not a matter of 'pinning you down' you have not made a valid point still yet and I am not interested in straightening you out on everything you may be confused about.
Did you see that GM-Europe is cutting about 20% of its international workforce (and possibly closing a number of the dozen plants in Europe). The high costs of building in this heavily socialized and unionized area were cited.
Socialized medicine does have a cost. This might be longer waits for non-critical care and it might be some fewer choices. There are offsets, however, that can be considered.
Cheers!
Pete
Liberals are upset because Sinclair is going to run 'Stolen Honor', but how about Robert Redford's Sundance Channel? This quote from William P. Kucewicz writing at the National Review Online: 'Organizing what amounts to a Dump George Bush film festivial, the Sundance Channel, which is under Redford's creative direction but is operated by Viacom's Showtime Networks, is pre-empting its scheduled lineup in order to devote nearly one-sixth of its airtime through Election Day to programming opposed to President Bush and the GOP. So far, however, this highly partisan scheme has slipped under the news media's radar.'
Guess its only unfair if its against Liberals, not the other way around.
I am a veteran of the Air Force, I served during the Vietnam war as a medic. John Kerry doesn't owe me an apology for trying to end the war after he got out, or for trying to get our POWs released. Blaming Kerry for the POWs' fate is like blaming the family of a 9/11 victim for another 9/11 victim's death.
Like many others, I am outraged by SBG's proposal to run this film just before the election; outraged that they brand it "news"; outraged that the FCC won't weigh in now, if at all, on the abuse of public airwaves.
If SBG goes ahead, then I say Farenheit 9/11 should also be shown in the same time slot, either the day before or the day after. And if they do go ahead, their bottom line is going to suffer thanks to a boycott being organized against SBG station's advertisers.
The facts printed here are copmpletely wrong. The film has not even been created yet. How can you complain before the facts are our. Kerry and/or a represenative of Kerry have been invited to air there opinions, yet they refuse to do so. Could it be that there is something to hide?
Please get you facts right before complaining.
MARK HYMAN, V.P. CORP. RELATIONS, SINCLAIR BROADCASTING: "We've decided to produce a 60-minute program that is going to deal with specific allegations made by these Vietnam POWs. So far, nothing is scripted. There's nothing that's been finalized. We've only invited one person to join us, that's Senator John Kerry. So far, nothing has been shot." 10/13/04
No Joim, you are completely wrong. The documentary has been produced, it's called Stolen Honer and is a 42 minutes film that you can watch online right now. Sinclair was simply going to tack on some extra time and make it a full 60. Typical that Sinclair wants to mislead just as his president does.
You are incorrect sir...
HYMAN: "Yes, there's a plan to use some of it. We have no idea how much. If, for example, Senator Kerry decides to join us for an hour, then we may only use one or two brief clips. And use the bulk of what he has to tell us as part of that program." 10/13/04
If John Kerry would simply put up a full and complete set of military records and simply come on the air with the Sinclair folks it would answer plenty. Apparently he is refusing to do both. Why do you think that is? Furthermore, what should a reasonable person think when he continues to side-step these requests?
Kerry has also refused to release a fully documented copy of his financial statement(s) as well. Can you imagine the flap if President Bush would refuse either - I think we can. In fact we already have seen it. For weeks the National Guard records were hashed rehashed and even fraudulantly tossed about.
While we're examining the "issue" of releasing documents, why do democratically run city election boards around the country in "battle-ground" states want more ballots than there are residents in those cities and more specifically eligible voters? For example, the City of Milwaukee is requesting over 900,000 ballots for less than 400,000 eligible voters.
The Republican County Executive refuses to give the city that many ballots. The City is claiming "voter supression" - Think about it.....more than twice as many ballots as eligible voters????? Please.
Sad thing is this is happening all over the place. Democrats are even planning to create controversial scenes at polling places on November 2nd even if there are none. And that is "fair"??
Again, can you imagine if the Republicans produced a voter day "manual" stating that skirmishes should be created at polling places even when one does not exist?
Give me a break.
It's also going to be 90 minutes, not 60. Please get your facts correct. Very typical of the knee-jerk reaction that the left seems to have.
"Do as I say, not as I do" mentality. The major networks have slammed Bush and praised Kerry since day 1 of their liberal slant. Proof?
CBS - Dan Rather
or how about....
"A study by the Center for Media and Public Affairs (independant media advisors) analyzed the third debate, focusing on which news operations praised Kerry and which praised Bush. You'll remember most people thought the debate was a draw.
According to the study, ABC News, CBS News and CNN all praised John Kerry about 20 percent more than President Bush. FOX News was just about even. On FOX, commentators praised Kerry 48 percent of the time and Bush 46 percent of the time in the post-debate analysis.
Tom Brokaw and his NBC News crew have been the most pro-Kerry TV outfit in the country. After the second debate, a debate most felt was a draw, NBC commentators praised John Kerry 74 percent of the time and President Bush 31 percent."
So what's up with the news on the major networks?!?!?! Seems pretty slanted to me.
So when you liberals run to the FCC to cry foul, just remember who is actually hurt by the media in all this. It definetely is not Kerry.
Boy talk about your one-sidedness
Or how about Robert Redford and the Sundance network???? Huh???? Kind of slipped under the radar there, didn't it?. I see no one running to the FCC on that one!!!!!
"Organizing what amounts to a Dump George Bush film festival, the Sundance Channel, which is under Redford's "creative direction" but is operated by Viacom's Showtime Networks, is preempting its scheduled lineup in order to devote nearly one-sixth of its airtime through Election Day to programming opposed to President Bush and the GOP. So far, however, this highly partisan scheme has slipped under the news media's radar."
For those of you who believe that Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 911 is a huge distortion, you might want to educate yourself. Michael has a line by line listing of his narration from the film and cites backup information for each of his assertions. It seems some people just hate the facts.
tuco::
Michael Moore may also come out very soon with a full-length feature movie defending his line by line listing of moore-words for each of his remarks in the narration from the film Fahrenheit 911, being filmed entirely in Area 51, which will have Hot Hollywood actors swearing that anything he says is true. The working title is 'Son of a Fahrenheit.'
Seems that there are some people who think that is real entertaining and somehow get money to buy it.
Whatever floats your boat.
Dexter, I am not confused. I have been watching you people dismantle the checks and balances of this nation for twenty years. You won't be happy until you can come in the night and kill us for our ideas just like the death squads Reagan and Bush financed, all through Central and South America.
You won't be happy until the economy and society are sunk in feudalism.
You won't be happy until this country is a one-party state (and we know how honest those are!)
I'll tell you why I am really so angry at you right wingers. It's because you are not sane. Sharing a country with you is like being in the back seat of a car driven by a dangerous, armed drunk. It's because you have no vision. You don't know where we are going in this century, and you don't care. You are death worshipers. You think we can sleep soundly on a pile of bombs.
We can't. The planet isn't big enough any more. We are capable of destroying ourselves. Not just with nukes. There are a laundry list of other ways we might not make it to the year 2100. Futurists are speaking of a 'wall of fog,' meaning that nobody knows what is going to happen in the decades to come. The last thing the human race needs right now is End-Times religious fanatics with visions of great battles in the Holy Land, burning oil and cutting trees and making enemies of everybody in sight.
You think I don't know history? Look up the War of the Triple Alliance. A Paraguayan dictator named Lopez, with more cojones than brains, attacked three neighboring nations at once (this was in the 1860's). By the time war ended, Lopez had gotten himself and TWO THIRDS of the people in Paraguay killed. Bravo!
You don't understand that one of the most powerful defenses the United States had in the last century was that most of the world loved us, or at least didn't hate us. When a 'leader' scares the hell out of almost everybody, those who feel threatened have a way of coming together and making sure he's no longer a threat. They did it to Lopez. They did it to Napoleon. They did it to Hitler. If we're stupid enough to keep letting Bush be our 'false hero' (see The Mask of Command, by John Keegan) they just might do it to us.
If it weren't for our oil dependence, continued needlessly by Republican policies since 1980, we wouldn't need to meddle in Mesopotamia, with the consequence we see now: 1075 US soldiers dead, many thousands more disabled or Section 8. We're down a division, in effective strength. And we have no warm bodies to send to Korea or wherever else a flareup might happen. Bush hasn't merely weakened us, he has shown the world our weakness, which is a dangerous temptation. The Chinese could sink the 7th Fleet with Sunburn missiles and dare us to do something about it. G'bye, Taiwan.
And don't even get me started on what happens if Musharraf is overthrown by Osama symps who would then have access to Agosta D.90 subs capable of nuking every big city on the Eastern Seaboard.
Saddam was a running sore, but he was no longer important enough to get into a quagmire over (and I say this as one who thought we should have taken him out in 1991, when the Shia and Kurds would have just about done it for us, with only a little help). On the threat board, Saddam was no higher than number 5 or so, behind OBL, Kim, China, Iran, and perhaps one or two others.
You righties shouldn't be put in charge of a urinal.

My statements stand. You offer nothing.
You rattle on, ignoring what I said, as if to have something to tear down. You miss the mark.
Check out who the Socialists are and how their rap doesn't fit in our Constitution.
There is no dictatorship here. No FDR.
The majority of the people know that we have enemies and some of them put on a kissy-face when they want something, especially the socialists.
"...nobody knows what is going to happen in the decades to come...." there's a real news flash there.
Nobody has ever -- ever -- known what's going to happen next month, and never will. Wise up.
You can say whatever you like, afer the fact, but it's a good thing you are not in charge anymore than the man-with-a-plan which is nearly all criticism. You are now more than just confused, you insist on remaining conflicted.
