DVB is a fundamentally MPEG-2 based system. Therefore, audio follows the MPEG-2 standard recommendations for stereo and surround sound. While MPEG-2 audio is specified in ISO/IEC 13818-3, TR 101 154 specifies the minimum requirements for the interoperability of baseline receivers.
In some cases, broadcasters may prefer to implement Dolby AC-3 audio or DTSfor surround sound. The implementation of this option is described in TR 101 154, TR 101 211, EN 300 468.
There are currently no Standards for Audio.
