Haifa Travel Guide - The "Gateway to the North" :
Haifa, the seaport of Israel and the capital of the north, located in the northern part
of Israel, eastern boarded by the Mediterranean Sea.
Haifa is divided into three major topographical levels. The lower city is the commercial center of the town with modern harbor facilities.
The middle level is an older residential zone and the upper level consists of modern neighborhoods, overlooking the sandy beaches of Haifa's cosmopolitan bay.
Haifa is the world center for the Bahai faith.
The Baha'i religion is an independent, monotheistic religion. Baha'is foow the teachings of Baha'u'llah who lived from 1817 to 1892. From its administrative seat on Mount Carmel, located just above the Shrine of the Ba'b, the Universal House of Justice, the highest international governing body of the Baha'i religion, directs the affairs of this world-wide community with the assistance of about 600 Baha'i volunteer staff representing more than 55 countries. This administrative centre comprises several buildings in neo-classical style which include the Seat of the Universal House of Justice, the International Baha'i Archives, Library and other administrative institutions.

Wadi Nisnas
The step route descends to Abbas Street
as an itinerary A, turn right to Zionut Avenue,
continuing along Shabtay Levy Street to
the Haifa Museum. From there descend
to Wadi Nisnas and Beit Hagefen , Arab -
Jewish Center, Symbol of co-existence,
and walk along Hawadi Street and the
Market Mall on St. John's Street. Ha'azmaut
street near the port, offers multiple bargain
stalls proposing a wide open sky market.
El Pasha
The route crosses the classical residential area
of Hadar, where houses date from
the 1920s and 1930s.
Cross the Nordau Pedestian Mall which
offers many restaurants, street cafes and
shops. Continue your descent down the
Ajlun Steps. Here descend to the House
of Mustafa EL-Halil Pasha in the old town.
Hadar Hacarmel area - the older neighborhoods, commercial center and offices are located here. Mt. Carmel area - residential and newer neighborhoods are located here, as well as the city's entertainment, cultural and tourist centers.

Ein-Hod - The Artists Village
Located on the western slopes of Mount Carmel, overlooking the Mediterranean sea shore and the Crusaders' castle of Atlit, Ein Hod Artists' Village was established in 1953 by artist Marcel Janco - a well known member of the Dada movement - as an art cente r for practising artists from Israel and abroad. Today, some ninety artist members working in all fields of the plastic arts and crafts live and work in the Village and exhibit in the central gallery and other spaces.
