Distribution and biological peculiarities in Armenia:
The species occupies Caucasus region of Eurasia, western central and southeastern Asia. Armenia is inhabited by 25-31 subspecies. In Armenia the species is distributed in extreme southern part along the Azerbaijan border near Kapan, and along the Araks River near Meghri, occupying dense thickets of willow (Salix), Dewberry (Rubus caesius), bulrushes (Scirpus) and tall grasses (Poaceae). Year-round resident. It breeds on the (place), having from __ to __ eggs in the clutch. The fledglings are observed in (months). The food of the species is mainly plant matter such as fruits, seeds, leaves, buds and a small amount of animal matter, for example insects. Where it is introduced it is an opportunistic omnivore, feeding on a diverse range of food, preferring large, energy rich items such as cultivated grains, mast and fruits.
Population dynamics:
According to the last estimation, population of the species makes from 50 to 100 breeding pairs. Population trend during last ten years demonstrates______________. The most probable reasons are supposed to be ___________________________________.
Conservation Measures:
At current the breeding populations of the species are protected in ______________. Parts of the breeding and migratory ranges are included in the Emerald Network, protected under Bern Convention.
The proposed conservation measures include increase of Emerald Sites for protection of the species.
