Scottish Government links with Africa

The Scottish Government funds projects in a number of countries in Sub Saharan Africa through our International Development Fund and our Climate Justice Fund. The main programmes are outlined below:

  • Malawi Development Programme - Scotland has many long standing links with Malawi and the Scottish Government has been funding projects there since 2005. We now fund over 40 projects in the country across a variety of themes.
  • Sport Relief Programme - The Scottish Government also has a programme in partnership with Sport Relief that is funding projects in Malawi, Uganda and South Africa.
  • Climate Justice Fund - A total of 5 projects are being funded in Malawi and Zambia to help people in vulnerable communities deal with the impacts of climate change.
