In 1776 The Musical, John Adams is trying to convince his colleagues to vote for American independence and sign the document, which is known as the Declaration of Independence. 1776 The Musical was created by Peter Stone and Sherman Edwards, and it premiered on Broadway in March 1969. 1776 The Musical received great reviews and it won a number of awards, one of these awards included the Tony Award for Best Musical.
