Starting at the southern end of the route, you'll find an almost endless list of world-class attractions in the sun-splashed city of San Diego. Heading north, the route takes you directly through Anaheim and your worry-free trip to the Disneyland® Resort.

Los Angeles is another popular destination, with a vibrant downtown, world-class dining, and access to major event venues and cultural attractions. Next up is the American Riviera, Santa Barbara, boasting a Mediterranean-like climate, spectacular beaches, culinary delights and nearby wineries in the Santa Ynez Valley.

The route's northernmost destination is the laid-back town of San Luis Obispo, featuring award-winning wineries, outdoor adventures, and farm-to-table culinary offerings.

Frequent Trains with Easy Connections

The Pacific Surfliner route offers 13 daily round-trip services between San Diego and Los Angeles, and five between Santa Barbara and San Diego. Many stations are within walking distance to top attractions. Plus, a number of transit providers offer free bus connections to Pacific Surfliner passengers, so you can visit even more destinations.

Along with its enviable ocean side location, this city has world-class attractions such as the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Balboa Park, and the USS Midway Museum.

Route Highlights

Traveling directly through Anaheim, the Pacific Surfliner is your ticket to a magical trip to the Disneyland® Resort. You might also catch a game at the Angels Stadium or the Honda Center, where the Los Angeles Angels baseball team and the Anaheim Ducks hockey team play.

To finish off any last cravings, the Anaheim Packing District, filled with local food vendors and bars, is the place to be.

Los Angeles is known for its vibrant downtown, world-class dining, and access to major event venues and cultural attractions. Once you arrive at Los Angeles Union Station, the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Staples Center are a short metro ride away or travel a bit further to explore the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

You can even spend the day at Universal Studios Hollywood and experience the jaw-dropping attractions, such as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Jurassic Park.

Santa Barbara is the perfect spot for a seaside getaway. Known as the American Riviera, Santa Barbara boasts a Mediterranean-like climate, spectacular beaches, and culinary delights. The wine country here allows for a diverse and authentic experience filled with dozens of tasting rooms and working wineries on the electric urban wine trail.

After you’ve had your fill, a kayak tour at the Channel Islands will have you enjoying the crystal-clear waters and exploring the remote coastlines.

The Pacific Surfliner's northernmost destination is the charming city of San Luis Obispo. Founded in 1772, the city boasts numerous historic inns and theaters. The laid-back town features award-winning wineries, outdoor adventures, and farm-to-table culinary offerings.

Wine lovers can head to Edna Valley, while beer aficionados can stay close to town for craft beer tastings. The SLO Downtown District is also a perfect place for a stroll, with its one-of-a kind clothing shops, locally owned businesses, and vibrant nightlife.
